There are few public figures in modern society who are universally loved, adored no matter where they go, but Sir David Attenborough might just be one of them. Now 96-years-old, the broadcaster and biologist has been entertaining and informing generations of nature lovers since he first came to prominence in the 1970s. Despite his advancing years Sir Attenborough continues to make documentaries and continues to acquire enthusiastic young fans whose knowledge of their environment outstrips that of almost all their predecessors.

Kate Geraghty (12) is one such fan. An animal-lover since a very young age, Kate became a committed fan of the veteran presenter when she saw an episode of Our Planet a couple of years ago. Since then she has made it her business to watch anything and everything featuring Sir Attenborough and, according to mam Mary, “admires the great interest he has in the planet and in animals, insects, fish and birds”.
