THE eighth Wicklow Hospice Half Marathon and 10km Race returned last Saturday, with 89 competitors taking to the starting line at The Beehive Pub.

All participants were encouraged to raise a minimum of €100 in sponsorship. There was also a virtual option for those who couldn’t make it on the day or who preferred to take on the challenge in a way that suited them.

Thanks to generous support from Coillte there were prize vouchers for Avondale Sports in Rathdrum presented to the top three men and women finishers, while medals were presented to all participants.

The first male over the finishing line at The Beehive was Ronan Wogan with a time of 34:28. In second place was Mark Byrne of Kilccole AC with a time of 37:52. John Golden was third on 38:47.
