A new exhibition of art by the residents of Kilcoole Lodge Nursing Home is on display in Greystones Library.
‘Art and Creativity at any Age’ is an initiative of the residents of the nursing home and features a selection of their art.
Over the month of May, the residents enjoyed the Bealtaine Festival, which is an Age and Opportunity Arts initiative, funded by the Arts Council and the HSE.
Activities included a series of art and crafts sessions, live music , visits to National Art Gallery and the National Concert Hall.
Art therapy has many positive advantages and add to quality of life.
The exhibition in Greystones Library is a way of acknowledging the residents’ talents, creativity, and willingness to learn new techniques .
A spokesperson for Kilcoole Lodge Nursing Home said: “Our residents take pride in what they do, who have been the backbone of our communities for many years and who have contributed so much to their country, as accountants, nurses, soldiers, teachers, electricians, and office administrators, with sheer determination, strength and courage still shines through, and still wanting to make a difference in other people's lives.”
The exhibition will continue on the first floor of Greystones Library throughout the month of June.
