ON International Women’s Day held on Wednesday Deputy Jennifer Whitmore TD welcomed Blessington’s Hannah McDonald and her mum Suzanne to the Dáil.

Hannah is a third year student attending Blessington Community College who hopes to pursue a career in marine science and she joined Deputy Whitmore for a briefing from Fair Seas in Leinster House this week.

Speaking after the visit Deputy Whitmore said: “It was my absolute pleasure to spend today with Hannah, a young woman from my own constituency who would like to be a Marine Biologist when she finishes school.

“Hannah and her Mum Suzanne visited me in Leinster House and we attended a talk about the need for increased Marine Protection Areas by Fair Seas together. As a marine scientist myself it is always a thrill to meet young people like Hannah interested getting into the field. It is so refreshing to meet people like Hannah who are so passionate about the environment and marine conservation at such a young age. As usual the next generation are leading from the front on climate action.
