As she counts down the days until the protracted road works on Arklow’s Main Street are finally completed, local trader Deirdre McMullan fears many of her colleagues will not be around to reap the benefits of the town’s facelift.

Ideally situated on Arklow’s Main Street, McMullans women’s fashions outlet was founded by Deirdre’s grandmother Julia in 1928. Deirdre’s mother Sheila expanded and developed the store thereafter, before finally handing over the reigns to Deirdre over 15 years ago.
