Homeless charity receives €1,000 from Sailing Club
The Bray Sailing Club Choir present a cheque to Sa Bhaile Charity: John Byrne and Nicola Jones accepts the cheque from Commodore Mark Henderson
Members of Bray Sailing Club presented Sa Bhaile with a cheque for €1,000 recently at the clubhouse at Bray harbour.
Commodore Mark Henderson said that it was a 'great honour' to give the money to the charity.
They raised the money at a Christmas concert held in the middle of December.
Around 100 people attended the event, which was arranged by JJ O'Dwyer and a large, hard-working team.
The concert featured the BSC choral group who hold informal singing and performing sessions twice a month to give members the chance to display their talents.
Sa Bhaile is an organisation governed by Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, the St Vincent de Paul local conference and the Knights of Columbanus in Bray.
It was established in 2009 to combat homelessness and to offer support and assistance to homeless people in the Bray area seeking to secure accommodation.
They liaise with landlords and the rents unit on the clients behalf and secure the accommodation with a deposit and a first month's rent.
They are also active members of the Bray Homeless Forum and the Homeless Action Team in Bray.
Sa Bhaile secured accommodation for 16 families and individuals during 2014. During 2014, 65 per cent of their clients were female and the vast majority of these had children.
