St. Peter’s Cemetery: There is a strict policy of ‘No Dumping Allowed’ in any area of the cemetery. Visitors to the cemetery are requested to take home with them all forms of their rubbish in order to keep the cemetery tidy. Your co-operation is appreciated.

St. Fergal’s Parish

Mass Times: Mass times are 9.30am Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. No morning Mass on Thursdays and Saturdays. Saturday: 7.30pm Vigil Mass; Sundays: 8am and 10.30am.

Baptism: Baptisms take place on the first and third Saturday of each Month at 12Noon. Bookings can be made through the Parish Office Only. The Preparation meeting takes place on the Monday before the 1st Saturday of the month. Please call into the Parish Office three weeks in advance of the Baptism to complete the Baptism Form and to confirm the date.

Confessions: Are heard on Saturdays after the 7pm Vigil Mass.

Marriage: All couples must give notice to the priest or Parish Secretary at least three months prior to the date of marriage.

Cemetery Sunday in Shanganagh Cemetery: The annual Shanganagh Cemetery Remembrance Mass and Blessing of Graves will take place this Sunday at 3pm. The location of the Altar has moved to a new area, near to the railway bridge. To get to the Altar, turn left at the cemetery gates and continue straight ahead. Where possible, people should take public transport to the cemetery. A collection will be taken up on the day to fund the sound system for the Cemetery Mass. There is also an option to donate online through the donate button on www.stannesparishshankill.com.

Cemetery Sunday in Springfield Cemetery: Takes place on Sunday June 18th at 3pm. Graves will be blessed but there will be no celebration of Mass.

QOP youth club

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club is delighted to have a six week adventure course organised with Bray Youth Services outward bound officer. There has been a great attendance at the club canoeing and water sports sessions. Their clubhouse on the seafront has had a complete make over and it is in fantastic condition.

Diving club

Bray Divers have gained six new members since the start of the year. This has kept the club trainers and leaders quite busy. Recent observances on local dives included conger eels, sea hares, pipefish, dogfish, spider crabs, colourful anemones, and lots more. Winter rough seas swept sand away from a large interesting underwater boulder field. To join call Albert on 0876756439 and be a diver within three weeks.

Bray Library

Opening hours are 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday with late opening on Tuesday and Thursday to 8.30pm. The library can be contacted at 01-2862600 or email: braylib@wicklowcoco.ie. The library is again involved in Imbolc, the Community Seed Arc programme, where one can get seeds for a variety of plants and after they flower, donate seeds from them for the programme. As always, you can have seeds sent to your local Wicklow Library branch by emailing your branch–and requesting up to 4 packets. Knit and Crochet for Purple House Cancer Support takes place at 11am every Monday in the library no need to book.

Bray Cualann Historical Society

Last Thursday night Peadar Curran was the guest speaker for the May monthly meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, in the Royal Hotel, Bray, at which he presented his lecture ‘A History of Dalkey Island’. During his excellently illustrated lecture Peader traced the history of the island and the brought the audience on a tour of it highlighting the numerous artefacts discovered and recovered during various archaeological excavations carried out. This was the final lecture in the Society’s Autumn programme. The Society is now working on its August Heritage Week events, details of which will be announced shortly.

Members and supporters of the Society are asked to note that the following events will take place in the week ahead: tomorrow (Thursday) Cora McDonagh will present ‘For the Gratification of the Public and the Promotion of the Fine Arts: Old Masters Exhibitions in 19th century Dublin’ at 8pm to the Rathmines, Ranelagh & Rathgar Historical Society in Rathmines Town Hall, Rathmines Road, Dublin 6. Members free / visitors €4–Swan Car Park Evening Rate is €3 from 5 p.m. to Midnight; next Tuesday night Cormac Moore will present a lecture ‘An Overview of 1923’ at 6.30pm in the Conference Room, Dublin City Library & Archive, 144 Pearse Street, Dublin. Bray Camera Club

At our weekly Monday [except on Bank holidays] night meetings in the Mermaid Arts Centre, Main Street, Bray, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, we welcome all comers over 18 years-of-age with an interest in photography to join our meetings where we show and discuss out photos, impart knowledge and indulge in lively friendly debate and banter.

Our programme of events include weekly imaginative and technical challenges; photographic knowledge exchange, image analysis and advice; regular guest speakers; competitions throughout the year; and photo safaris. Voices of Bray Community Choir
