It's hoped that children in the Bridgetown area may get an early Christmas present this year in the form of a new state of the art playground.
Work is ongoing on the playground at the moment and it's something that has long been sought by the local community. It is hoped, all going well, that the project may be completed by the end of November.
The installation of the playground ranked high on the list of priorities for former Sinn Féin councillor Mick Roche and while he lost his seat in the last local elections, the Bridgetown local is delighted to see the project finally come to fruition.
'Finally, after a long wait, Bridgetown will have its own playground,' he said. 'I had this at the top of my agenda when I was on the council and I am really delighted to see it come to fruition.'
'We should've had this a long time ago really,' he continued. 'But there is so much red tape to get through. This will be of great benefit to families in Bridgetown and surrounding areas and I'd like to thank all of the local groups for doing their bit to get to this point.'
'Bridgetown is such a beautiful place to live and the people are so positive and friendly. I'm sure this is only the start of more good things to come.'
