Curracloe collect two cups in two days, and target a third

Curracloe United 2, Shelbourne 2 (AET, Curracloe won 4-2 on penalties): The last of the schoolgirl cup finals took place on Wednesday last in Ajax Athletic's ground in Enniscorthy and saw two very good sides go all the way to penalties to determine a winner in the Ger Dunne Under-16 decider.

Shelbourne enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges and led 1-0 at half-time through a welltaken Mary Tyrrell goal, and they doubled that advantage in the second-half when Kate Cullen scored.

It was at this point that Curracloe began to come into the game and, with 15 minutes left, they pulled one back through Siobhán Doolan. Ten minutes later Rianna Cullen scored to bring the sides level.

No further goals in extra-time saw the game go to penalties where Curracloe held their nerve to win 42 and lift the Ger Dunne Cup for the third year in a row. Tom 'Flash' Dunne was on hand to present the winning side with their trophy as well as the player of the match award to Curracloe's Jessie Harding.

Curracloe United 2, Shelbourne 0: Curracloe collected their second trophy in two days when overcoming Shelbourne in the Under-14 Premier playoff in Rathangan on Thursday night.

In a close game, Curracloe looked the better side and created more chances in the first-half, beingrewarded when Fiona Kinsella put them in front.

Shelbourne battled hard for an equaliser in the second-half but could not break down a resolute Curracloe defence, and the seasiders wrapped up the league title when Siobhán Doolan scored.

Curracloe United 0, Shelbourne 0: This scoreless draw between the top two sides in the Under-12 Premier Division resulted in both being deadlocked at the top, and they met again last night (Tuesday) in a play-off to decide the league winner.

This game on Monday last in Curracloe saw both sides cancel each other out and chances were minimal as defences dominated. Both sides completed their league campaign unbeaten and a great game was promised on Tuesday in Curracloe at 7 p.m.
