Louise in limelight

At least one Wexford woman left Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow with a Leinster camogie medal in her back pocket.

While St. Martin's suffered an agonising one-point defeat to Thomastown in the Senior final, there was better news for former Duffry Rovers and inter-county player Louise Codd in the curtain-raiser.

She came on as a half-time substitute at midfield for the Johnstownbridge (Kildare) club as a lucky goal helped them to see off Myshall from Carlow in Sunday's Intermediate decider by 2-9 to 1-8, having led by 1-5 to 1-3 at the break. The winners' path to glory had included a 0-13 to 0-7 triumph against Naomh Eanna in the provincial quarter-final in Gorey.

Elsewhere in the camogie world, former Glynn-Barntown player Susie McGovern featured on the Ahane team which lost the Limerick Senior county final recently to Granagh-Ballingarry by 0-17 to 0-9, scoring two points. She is working in Kerry Group in Charleville at present and lives in Limerick.
