Wexford pubs set to come alive to the sound of music

THE GUINNESS Singing & Swinging Pubs kicks off just after the Wexford Opera Festival Launch on Friday night.

Always at the heart of the Fringe Festival, the ever-popular Singing & Swinging Pubs is now in its 59th year and promises to have the bars of Wexford buzzing again from October 21 to November 5.

This Friday the action kicks off in Mooney's, The Farmer's Kitchen, Wren's Nest and Central Station.

The abundance of talent available in Wexford is sure to have the participating hotels and pubs packed every night, with a record 42 looking to take home the top prizes.

The four main sections are the Singing Pubs; Swinging Pubs; Variety Pubs and Traditional Style Pubs. This year's adjudicator is Waterford man Tobie Hickey, a well-known figure in musical and drama circles. He's sure to have his work cut out for him!
