A well-known stalwart of Wexford Light Opera Society has been made an Honorary Life Member of the organisation. Pat Lawlor who first appeared with the Society in Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat back in 1977, was presented with the honour on the final night of four-night sold-out run of 'Hits from the Musicals' in Clayton Whites Hotel.
Pat has served as chairman for four years, vice-chairman for one year, secretary for four years and PRO for 10 years.
He has appeared in every Wexford Light Opera Society show since his debut, adding up to 42 shows so far, and has performed lead roles and named parts 33 times. He has taken a prominent part in the Opera Festival 'Hits' production for 23 years.
Pat has also taken part in numerous festivals including Carrick, Waterford and Bangor.
He received two AIMS nominations and won the award for Best Comedian in Bangor in 1984. The award was presented to him by Society President Mary Fox and Chairperson Joanne Flood.
Meanwhile, an information night for people wishing to audition for the Society's 2019 production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be held on November 22 at 8pm in the Friary Hall with auditions due to take place on December 1 and 2 in the Faythe School.
