The actors and performers of tomorrow took their first steps towards the big stage at a special weekend of classes over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
Hosted by the Oyster Lane Theatre Group this performance workshop invited children aged between 8-16 to sing, dance and act under the tutelage of professional artists.
'We had 55 kids altogether, they did a variety of stuff, all to do with theatre; dance, drama, singing techniques, special effects, makeup,' explained Chairperson of Oyster Lane, Brandon Cogley.
The budding starlets were put through their paces by Paul Walsh, Trish Goggins and Denise Brennan before then putting on a show of their own for their proud parents at the end of the two days.
For Brandon the weekend offered a glimpse into the future of the theatre group. 'We do the workshop once a year to give the younger kids the chance to come in and learn. But we've already had a few 15/16 year olds say they're interested in coming back in and enrolling with us.' And, Brandon and his colleagues are only too happy to welcome new talent. 'We're doing 'Grease' in October and a few of the children said they'd like to take part in the production later this year,' he said.
