The actor Pete McCamley and his wife Aileen Donohoe, the well-known Wexford singer and former West End performer, have been cast to play the leads in Wexford Light Opera Society's 2019 production of the hit family musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
In an impressive line-up of high-profile stage performers, Aileen will play Truly Scrumptuous while Pete who is also a musician, will take on the role of Caractacus Potts.
Following a round of hotly-contested auditions, Grace Goggins has been cast as Jemima Potts with Pat Lawlor as Grandfather Potts; Des Whelan as Baron and Elizabeth Rose Browne as Baroness.
The actor John Crosbie will play the Childcatcher while well-known local councillor George Lawlor is Gorman.
Other cast members include Gearóid McCauley as Boris and Brian O' Gorman as the Toymaker.
The parts of Jeremy and Lord Scrumptious have yet to be announced while Esme McKiernan Becker has been appointed as understudy to Grace Goggins in the role of Jemima Potts. The cast will be supported by the Wexford Light Opera Society Chorus.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will run from April 29 to May 4 in the National Opera House. Tickets are available online at www.nationaloperahouse.ie.
