A young Wexford dancer is to strut her stuff among the finest in the country, having obtained one of only 20 places in the Junior Company of the Irish National Youth Ballet.
Eva Cashman has just finished 6th class in Murrintown National School and she faced stiff competition from all over Ireland to take a place in the prestigious company. A student of the Ballet Academy, she has been dancing since she was just three years old and was over the moon to have made the grade.
'I was absolutely delighted when I received the news that I had been accepted into the Irish National Youth Ballet,' Eva said. 'It's a huge honour to be representing The Ballet Academy in such a prestigious dance company.
'It'll be a big commitment,' she added. 'I'll be travelling to Dublin every weekend for classes, rehearsals and shows but I'm really looking forward to the whole experience. I'd like to thank my fantastic teacher, Dara Pierce, for her constant encouragement and immense attention to detail. The audition was very challenging but I felt well prepared, thanks to Dara.'
Teacher Dara was extremely proud of Eva's achievement.
'Eva is a very talented young lady and I am so proud of her wonderful achievement in joining INYB,' she said. 'She will be dancing alongside the best young dancers in Ireland this year and I look forward to watching her on stage with the company. Eva is a natural performer with a beautiful classical technique and I am excited for her to have this opportunity to progress at a national level.
'All of us at The Ballet Academy are very proud of Eva and look forward to seeing her perform on stage in Dublin.'
