A tower of meringues in the colours of the Irish flag which was inspired by Wexford helped to win the Scottish Conservative Party leader Ruth Davidson the title of Star Baker in a Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer on Channel 4 television.
The impressive Showstopper confection served with Wexford strawberry daiquiris was made as a special nod to the birthplace of Ruth's partner Jen Wilson who grew up in Wexford town.
The Scottish politician looked to Jen's homeland for ideas, dyeing her meringues the colour of the tricolour and serving with cocktails made from Wexford strawberries.
She also revealed that she was inspired to take part in the cancer campaign programme alongside fellow contestants Tim Minchin, Made in Chelsea Star Jamie Laing and singer Ella Eyre, by the death many years ago of Jennifer's mother.
Ms. Davidson won all three challenges, beginning with a glow-in-the-dark chocolate and orange marble loaf which earned her judge Paul Hollywood's coveted handshake, following with a technical round of tiramisu sandwich biscuits and finishing off with the green, white and gold meringue Shopstopper called 'Wexford Wonder'.
Sticking to her belief that every good bake deserves booze, she served her tower with a strawberry daiquiri which she slurped happily.
And showing calm in the face of potential disaster, she refused to panic when her meringues slid off their baking tray and sent splat. She simply threw them away and started working on another batch.
'It's a bit like politics', she remarked of the accident. 'If you make a mess, You have to clean it up pretty quickly'.
Ruth and Jen, who is a marketing assistant in a green Scottish energy charity, have been a couple for several years and announced their engagement in May 2016.
They made a public call for a 'Yes' vote in the same sex marriage referendum in Ireland with Ruth saying she would eventually like to marry Jen in her home country.
Jen spoke about leaving Ireland in 2003 because she felt she couldn't be truly herself, despite the support of family and friends.
