Three members of the team at the Veterinary Hospital on Distillery road recently took to the sea, roads and mountains in order to raise funds for the WSPCA.
Back in June Richard Bramley and Martin Breen both made the journey south to Youghal in Co Cork in order to put their stamina to the test by taking part in the Epic Ironman. Both managed to make it across the line safe and sound and were delighted to collect their winners medals. However, that wasn't all they collected, as they also raised funds for a great cause.
Similarly, Michelle Mernagh who is also part of the team at the Vets managed to complete the gruelling Gaelforce West Challenge in Westport over the same weekend.
The trio were delighted to receive some wonderful support from friends and family before setting off on their challenges and last week they managed to present a cheque for €3,249 to Bridget Cullen of the WSPCA who was over the moon with the gesture. She thanked them for their hard work.
'The WSPCA is a charity which is very close to the Veterinary Hospitals heart,' said Michelle. 'All the members of the WSPCA work tirelessly every day to aid unwanted and neglected animals and they are all our unsung heroes. The sponsorship will go towards neutering pets and we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped and supported us this year.'
