THE SEARCH is on for Wexford's former Rose of Tralee finalists.

Organisers of the festival are trying to contact former Wexford and Wexford-born Roses for a special tribute event which takes place in Tralee later this week.

All former rose finalists will have their names inscribed in a glass wall of honour in the Tralee Rose Garden, which will be unveiled on Thursday, August 15, around the Jeanne Rynhart memorial in the Town Park.

The Wexford Rose finalists from 2005 to 2012 are Catriona White, Fiona Clancy, Sarah Thorpe, Anne-Marie O'Hara, Nicola Keane, Anne Sinnott, Mary Kehoe and Laura Doyle.

Prior to 2005, Roses from Wexford participated in the Waterford Rose selection.

The wall of honour project is part of the Gathering of Roses tribute being hosted by Tralee Town Council to salute former rose contestants. Some 1,701 roses from 70 centres throughout the world participated in the event from 1959 to 2012, and a special commemorative booklet is also being published to mark the occasion.

The council will host a reception afterwards to which former Roses and their families are invited. So if you are a former Rose finalist and would like to be part of the event contact, 066 7162133 or 066 7121322.

This year's festival runs from August 14 to 20.
