The Wexford Federation ICA (Irish Countrywomen's Association) held its Special Occasion Competition in The Shamrock Hall, Kilanerin on Thursday June 6.
Hosted by Ballyfad and Kilanerin Guilds, a total of 18 guilds from across the county competed for the coveted award. Welcoming members to the event, Ballyfad President Catherine Doyle was joined by Geraldine O'Connor who was there on behalf of Kilanerin President Eileen Higgins.
The compeition was sponsored for the second year in succession by Wexford Home Preserves whose owners, Laura and Tom Sinnott, were on hand to present the prizes.
The theme for this year's event was 'ICA On Tour' which involved completing and then displaying five tasks for the judges to peruse. And upon inspecting the entries, Taghmon Guild was named overall winner, with Ballyoughter in second and Kiltealy third.
In the individual categories, the Tour Flyer winner was Duncannon Guild, Tour Guide Flower Arrangement winner was Ballyoughter Guild, Savoury Scones winner was Duncannon guild, and Kiltealy guild won both the Tour Mascot and Tour Bag categories.
During the interval some entertainment was provided by Ann Dunne of Bree Guild, Lillian Mahon of Gorey Guild, the ICA 'Has Got Talent' winners from Camross, Myles Carroll, Caroline Fleming Dance School, Ali Bushe and Tara Boukima and Tom and Erin Clare. Mary D'Arcy, Federation President was M.C. for the evening.
