Rosslare Harbour RNLI were tasked with coming to the aid of a yacht that got into difficulty some ten miles off the Wexford coast on Thursday afternoon.
The volunteer crew launched the all-weather lifeboat at around 3.40 p.m. to assist the 10m yacht with two people on board. The vessel, bound for south coast of the UK, was becalmed and suffering from engine problems.
Thankfully, conditions were extremely favourable for the operation with calm seas and bright sunny skies and the crew were alongside the yacht in no time.
Once there, they assessed that the sailors were safe and well before working with them to establish a tow-line and bring the yacht back to Rosslare Europort.
The pair were extremely grateful to the RNLI for their assistance and RNLI Coxswain Eamonn O'Rourke commended his crew for a swift and professional rescue and wished the pair of sailors all the best for their safe onward journey.
