The removal of bollards from Selskar Square has prompted some people to use the civic amenity as a car park, a District Council meeting was told.
'This is a lovely civic space but it's currently being used as a car park by vans, jeeps and cars', said Cllr. George Lawlor who called for the local authority to take action.
Cllr. Lawlor said one bollard at the square was being consistently removed and left to one side all day, opening a gap for cars to drive in and it appeared that the Council was turning a blind eye to it.
'Some businesses have complained that their shop fronts can't be seen because of vans blocking the view', he said, adding that two residents have parking spaces allocated outside the square not inside.
'It's a lovely civic amenity that is beintg ruined by car parking. Could we put the bollards back', he asked.
