A GREY SEAL pup called Zeus, who was rescued by the Irish Seal Sanctuary, will be returned to the wild in Kilmore Quay this Saturday afternoon, December 18.
Zeus was found on the beach in Kilmore last September. Less than three weeks old, he still had his lanugo or long white baby hair. He was covered in bites and was in poor condition.
He thrived at the Irish Seal Sanctuary in Courtown Harbour and is now weighing in at 40 kg. He is fit and ready to face the challenges of the open sea.
Zeus who has been tagged as part of the sanctuary's tracking programme, will be returned to the sea at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
