The seaside community of Kilmore Quay was a hive of activity last weekend for the annual Kilmore Quay Seafood Festival which hosted a range of events to suit all ages.
The festival began with a bang at the official launch which took place in the Stella Maris Centre where newly elected Mayor of Wexford Cllr Jim Moore opened the weekend. The night began with the opening of the Wexford Camera Club photography exhibition by Lar O'Toole.
It didn't stop there, as Executive Chef of Kelly's Resort Hotel Eugene Callaghan judged an amazing array of different seafood platters from some of the finest restaurants and hotels around Wexford.
Eugene was extremely impressed with the display of seafood presented to him by La Cote Restaurant, earning them first place. Close behind them was the Talbot Hotel, Mary Barry's Seafood Bar and Restaurant and Tides Gastro Pub.
The grand festival parade was led by the present Grand Marshall Peter Moran where local community groups, vintage clubs, and a colourful float from the Red Moon Theatre company all followed weaving their way through Kilmore.
The Fish Friday market was a huge success as hundreds gathered to see cookery demonstrations from talented chefs Derry Clarke of L'Ecrivain and Eugene from Kelly's Hotel, Rosslare.
Children gathered in the great weather for a Teddy Bears picnic in the Shipwreck Cove Playground where they enjoyed an hour of story-telling with their teddies.
On the last day of the festival, the Molgoggers livened things up on the Quay front where they performed a free gig, followed by Kilmore Quay rockers The Submersibles bringing the festival to a close where many danced in the summery seaside air.
