A MURRINTOWN man who drove without insurance on two occasions in the space of ten days has been disqualified from driving for two years.
Martin Wills (59), of Bloomfield Cottage, Murrintown, drove without insurance at Ballymartin, Castlebridge, on March 10, 2010, and at Culleton's Gap, Curracloe, on March 19, 2010.
The court heard that Wills had been expecting his son to put insurance in place for him, but that this never happened.
Judge Patrick Clyne said that as the two incidents happened so close together he was happy to treat them as one for the purposes of penalty. He disqualified Wills from driving for two years on the first charge, at Ballymartin. He also fined him €100, but gave the defendant six months to pay that fine. The second charge of driving without insurance was taken into consideration.
