Postman's van stolen while delivering mail

A FILE IS BEING PREPARED for the Director of Public Prosecutions after a van was stolen from a postman while doing his delivery round in Rosbercon last Thursday morning.

The opportunistic thief made away with the van, containing the day's post, at 10.25 a. m., when it was parked outside the apartment complex in lower Rosbercon while the postman was delivering mail.

A garda investigation and search for the privately owned Citroen Berlingo van was immediately launched following the incident and that evening the vehicle was spotted in the Carrigbyrne area.

The van, containing the post, was recovered by Gardaí, who subsequently arrested a 39-year-old male, who is from the New Ross area, in connection with the incident.

Gardaí, who are investigating the incident, are currently preparing a file for the DPP, however are still appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who might have any further information to contact New Ross Garda Station on 051 421204.
