Owen was a big sports fan

FAMILY AND friends mourn the sad passing of Owen Doyle who died peacefully in Knockeen nursing home Wexford.

Owen was born 1928 in Barmony Adamstown, the eldest son of Anne and Nicolas Doyle of Begerin Lodge, Castlebridge.

However, it was his beloved grandparents Myles and Anastasia Noctor who cared and raised Owen in Rathquile, Adamstown.

Throughout Owen's life he never forgot his roots, and always counted himself a proud Adamstown man. Raised with his first cousin Peg, they grew up closer than brother and sister. This bond was rekindled on Owen's return to his native Wexford having spent most of his working life in London.

Always a keen sportsman, Owen could speak with authority on all sports and took particular pride in fellow Adamstown man and Premiership star Kevin Doyle.

Owen's mild manner, warm character and great sense of humour drew to hi, family, friends and strangers alike

He is survived by his brothers Jim, Nicholas and Pat, sisters Kitty, Ellie, and Statia, and many nephews and nieces. May he rest in peace.
