Nightmare for the family of missing Paddy
THE waters off Kilmore Quay will be the focus of a renewed search this morning (Tuesday) following the disappearance of well-known local fisherman Paddy Barry, who is in his fifties.
Paddy's lobster boat was found empty off the Saltee Islands just over three hours after he left the harbour to go fishing at 9 a.m.
Family members, including Paddy's wife Roisin, who works at the County Clinic in Grogan's Road, in Wexford, were at Lifeboat House, in Kilmore Quay, hoping against hope that he would be found, but the search was called off after 90 minutes when darkness fell.
'We're out here at moment still looking, there are a huge number of boats. Everyone here is totally devastated,' said Fr. Denis Doyle during yesterday's search.
At least 20 local boats had aided the Kilmore Quay and Rosslare lifeboats in the search, which earlier in the day included a coastguard helicopter and naval divers from Cork.
'Just about every boat in the harbour is out there looking for him,' said a local resident.
