Enniscorthy library will play host to the launch of the latest edition of 'The Past' on Thursday, June 27, at 7 p.m.
The Past is a publication of the Uí Cinsealaigh Historical Society and the forthcoming issue will be number 33 in the series.
The first issue was published in 1920 and preparations are already under way for the publication of the centenary edition next year.
This year's edition, which contains a varied and interesting selection of articles, was edited by Rev Fr James Hammel, who has taken over as editor from Canónach Séamus S de Vál, who held the position for 46 years.
Canónach De Vál edited 25 editions of the journal and with the variety of contributors he sourced and the diversity of articles published he helped create an invaluable repository of stories from the model county's past.
In 2008 the society published a list of the names of all the contributors and the titles of the articles they wrote covering 27 editions of 'The Past' from 1920 to 2008.
The list also contained records of the various editors up to 1970 when Canónach de Vál took over the position.
In the period covered there were four editors, 169 contributors and 209 separate articles.
