MUSIC and passion will be in fashion at the Oyster Lane Theatre group's newly-announced production of 'Copacabana' a little later in the year.

The decision to stage 'Copacabana' follows the group's recent annual meeting at the Talbot at which the new committee was elected and details of the show were revealed.

A well-known and exciting, light-hearted romantic comedy, 'Copacabana' will carry audiences and Oyster Laners back to an era when the New York night club was the centre of the world. Some of an older genre may even remember one of Barry Manilow's' greatest hits 'Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl...').

Who will fill Lola's shoes remains to be seen. Auditions for the show will be announced shortly so watch this space!

Greg Currid has been elected as chairperson this year, taking over from Nicola Roche who has had a very successful three year term. Micheline Murphy and Yvonne Busher have retained their roles as secretary and treasurer respectively.

Paula Malone Carty has filled the position of PRO and other elected committee members are Charmaine Wilson, Nicola Roche, Majella Londra, Daniel O'Connell, Jackie Fitzhenry and Mary Redmond Clancy.

The new president for the group was also unanimously elected Marian O'Leary, a stalwart of Oyster Lane, takes over from the late Kevin Doyle.
