A WEXFORD TOWN man who was travelling more than 50km over the speed limit was fined at last week's sitting of Wexford District Court.
Damien Godkin (38), 48 Cromwellsfort Avenue, Wexford was charged with careless driving at Carrowreagh, Taghmon on May 4, 2012.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and the court heard at 8pm on the evening in question Godkin was clocked driving at 153km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
The court heard Godkin has no previous convictions.
Acting for Godkin solicitor Tim Cummins said Godkin was travelling home from work having been delayed at a meeting.
He was due to collect his son and was rushing to meet the appointment.
Judge Gerard Haughton imposed a fine of €300 and endorsed his licence.
