Two long-serving members of the Altar Society in Mayglass Church were honoured at a presentation in Whitford Hotel.
Anna Moore of Coalspit and Mary Boggan of Cregg have each given 35 years of voluntary service to the church, carrying out cleaning, polishing and flower arranging duties.
They were presented with inscribed Waterford Crystal vases for their own flowers by the Altar Society chairperson Eleanor Quilty who thanked them for their years of excellent unpaid service.
Anna's daughter Siobhan accepted the presentation on her behalf as she was unable to attend the society's annual Christmas dinner.
Anna and Mary are members of the Mayglass Altar Society which was established 45 years ago by the mothers of some of the current members when the small parish lost its curate and a rota was established to look after its cleaning and maintenance.
Eleanor's mother Nellie Stafford was one of the women involved in the inaugural society. Members carry out voluntary cleaning and flower duties for a fortnight every six weeks to ensure that the church remains in pristine condition.
