A WORK of art by 14-year-old Gorey Community School student Lucy Fahy will soon be seen in homes across the country.
She entered the painting, titled 'Harbour', in this year's Texaco Children's Art competition, and she was delighted to learn that it was one of thirteen entries selected to feature in the 2017 Texaco Children's Art Calendar. Her work will appear on the month of May page and will be seen in thousands of homes.
Lucy won a special merit award in category B of the 2016 competition. It was one of a number of entries, said by a competition adjudicator, to perfectly reflect the incredible talent and imagination of children, and the essential role played by schools in encouraging and inspiring their students through art education.
The calendars are available in selected Texaco service stations and Texaco authorised distributors.
Last year, 'Wexford Harbour' by GCS student Janne Strydom received third prize overall. It is now a permanent feature of the Texaco Children's Art collection.
