The RNLI all-weather lifeboat based in Rosslare Harbour was launched in challenging conditions by RNLI volunteers last Wednesday evening to assist a yacht with three men on board.
The 13 metre yacht, travelling north, developed engine problems and due to unfavourable wind conditions was unable to make progress.
The weather was difficult with a strong north easterly force 6 to 7.
Having reached the sailing vessel, off the Wicklow coast, the yacht was taken in tow and headed to the port of Arklow.
Arklow RNLI were also involved with a call out at the time, but concluded their mission and were able to take over the tow and continued into Arklow port.
Rosslare RNLI lifeboat returned to base at 11.45 p.m.
Speaking after the incident, Rosslare RNLI Press Officer Jamie Ryan praised the efforts of the RNLI volunteers who had to endure some challenging sea conditions.
