It was a late night for those who celebrated Tommy McCann's 80th birthday in Wexford Golf Club with the night finishing in the early hours of the morning.
'Jason O'Connor sang for a couple of hours first, just a few ballads as we wanted to keep it low-key so people could talk and hear each other. He had family from Bristol and a cousin from Wales visit so it was nice for them to catch up,' said daughter Helen Kehoe.
From Liam Mellows Park, Tommy joined his band to perform a few songs for half an hour before the DJ, Paul Byrne, came on.
'He got up and played with his band Bourbon Street, they are a jazz band that are based in Wexford. It was great, they had everyone up dancing,' said Helen.
Tommy was given lots of presents from family and friends including a photo album, personalised photo frame from his sisters, whiskey, money and some vouchers.
'We had a cake baked in the shape of a drum for him and he loved it. We all stayed up until 4 a.m. dancing as no one was ready to leave when the party ended,' said Helen.
