A wine-tasting dinner and auction in Kelly's Hotel, Rosslare raised over €25,000 for Windmill Therapeutic Unit which supports people with intellectual disabilities.
Approximately 90 people attended the event which featured a mouth-watering menu prepared by Michelin chef Arnaud Saffray of renowned restaurant Rond de Carotte in the French Alps, with the help of head chef at La Marine restaurant in Kelly's, Ronan Dunne and his team.
The evening started with a canape and champagne reception followed by dinner with each of the five courses complemented by wine from the hotel's cellar.
After the meal, guests bid on an extensive wine auction with special wines such as Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru reaching over €1,600.
All proceeds from the evening have gone to Windmill which provides day service support for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disability from Wexford and the surrounding area, helping them to lead fulfilling lives.
'We were overwhelmed with the response to our charity night. Without the support of our dinner guests and the donations received, we wouldn't have been able to raise the amount we did', said hotel proprietor Bill Kelly whose daughter Faye attends the Windmill service.
The money will help Windmill's ongoing service and a new service centre in Cornmarket, Wexford. Donations are still being accepted on behalf of the charity.
