The contribution of one of Wexford's best-loved clergymen to the local community was well and truly marked as he celebrated the silver jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood.
Fr Aodhán Marken marked 25 years in the priesthood surrounded by family, friends and parishioners during the course of a special weekend of celebration. Having been ordained at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Scotstown, Clones, Co. Monaghan, on June 19 of 1994, Fr Aodhán was appointed chaplain to St Peter's College where he remained for a period of three years before being appointed CC at Bride Street Church.
Over the years, Fr Aodhán has immersed himself in the local community and as a result, there was no shortage of people to wish him well and mark the milestone with him.
Bishop Denis Brennan celebrated Mass at Bride Street church and spoke extremely highly of Fr Aodhán, before family and friends moved down to the Talbot Hotel for a reception in honour of the popular priest.
Joined specially by his proud family, it was a wonderful evening for Fr Aodhán and he expressed his gratitude at another special service at Rowe Street Church the following day.
