Five housing estates could be taken in charge by Wexford County Council.
Members of Wexford Borough District heard that Portside and Southbay in Rosslare, Kilrane Manor, Hazelwood in Bridgetown and phase one of Clonard Village are now suitable to be taken in charge.
Director of Services Tony Larking said the council will now go to public consultation process.
He said he expects to bring the matter to the council members in May.
Mr. Larkin said that there had been a delay in processing the taking in charge of estates but that this was now up and running again. He said the delays had largely related to the establishment of Irish Water but these had now been resolved.
Cllr George Lawlor also raised concerns about Strandfield Manor saying it needed 'a fair bit of work to bring it up to standard'.
Cllr Anthony Kelly agreed, saying he understood that the builder had plans for the estate but said this was unconfirmed.
