The dancers from the Sheila Grace Dance School were quick on their feet at the International Festival of Dance and Performing Arts in Disneyland Paris recently, winning nine trophies.
The group got a great warm-up in the Disneyland Videopolis Theatre when they performed all of their routines to a packed theatre and received a great response from the audience.
The following day, competition began in earnest with competitors taking part in a variety of categories, senior and junior. All students gave great performances against very tough competition. The group won awards for costume characterisation, overall impression for a junior group, and costume characterisation for the senior group, as well as a number of other trophies bringing the total to seven at the end of day one.
On the Sunday, it was the turn of the dancing duos and all Wexford dancers performed strongly, securing first and third place spots, and bringing the trophy total to nine for the weekend.
The group rounded off the weekend by taking part in the Disney Pre-Parade, giving them the chance to dance through the park and down the main street to cheers. They then watched the character parade and enjoyed a fireworks display to round off the magical weekend.
