Driving ban postponed

UNEMPLOYED builder's labourer Desmond Roche from Ballyhine Upper in Barntown admitted committing a drink drive offence when he appeared in the District Court on Monday.

He was driving a Nissan Almera while over the legal limit for alcohol at Barntown on May 14. Judge Gerard Haughton was told that Roche was three years out of work and contemplating a move to Canada to join his grown up children there. He was fined €350 and banned from driving for two years. The ban comes into force on September 1 to allow the offender bring his mother for treatment at St. Luke's Hospital over the coming weeks.
