While the doors may have re-opened on the ground floor at McCauley following last week's major fire, Dr Miles Deas has been forced to temporarily relocate his practice while the building is brought back up to code.
An electrical fault was thought to be the cause of the blaze which was confined to the cavities in the walls upstairs in the building. A total of four tenders from County Wexford Fire Service were required to quench the blaze, requiring some five hours at the scene.
'Thankfully, there was no fire damage at all to my suite upstairs,' said Dr Deas.
'It was just smoke got in and the place is being aired out at the moment.'
In the meantime, Dr Deas' practice has been temporarily re-homed at the Primary Care Centre on Grogan's Road.
'They've been ever so good to us here,' he said.
'We're hoping to get back up and running as normal soon. Some work needs to be done to the rear of the building at McCauleys and they're hoping to have the rear entrance and the stairs up to my practice open by September 6. The date on paper that I'm told we'll be back in business is September 15, but hopefully it could be sooner than that.'
In the meantime, appointments are being taken at the clinic and patients can get in touch with the practice at the same number - 0539140667.
