Three Wexford names are among six announced by Horse Racing Ireland as having been appointed to the Racegoers' Consultative Forum (RCF).
Tom Galway and Mark McGrath will take up a new role representing the South East tracks of Clonmel, Gowran Park, Thurles, Tramore and Wexford, while Kara Gabbett, an English Student at UL, will represent student racegoers. The trio were appointed to the voluntary roles for a period of three years.
The RCF has a total of 14 members drawn from all over the country and forum members represent racegoers with the brief of bringing ideas and feedback to senior executives in Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) in order to improve the race going experience for both new and regular racegoers.
The forum meet with HRI four times a year in addition to writing formal reports from the racecourses under their remit and liaising with racecourse managers in their region.
The trio are excited to get going in their roles and CEO of HRI Brian Kavanagh says he's looking forward to working with them.
'Their appointment will bring new perspective and fresh ideas to improve the race going experience for everyone involved,' he said.
'Much has been achieved in recent years through Horse Racing Ireland's capital development programme to improve customer facilities; however, the work of the RCF gives us valuable insights from experienced and dedicated racegoers which help us to constantly improve the quality of the racing product and the race-day experience.'
'I would like to thank all the forum members for their dedication and I really look forward to working with them in coming years.'
