The exact location of a new 1,000 pupil replacement school for Selskar College and a new eight classroom Educate Together National School was officially decided last week as the acquisition of a site was finally completed.

Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB) announced that a 16 acre site had been acquired by the Department of Education to the rear of Whitford Hotel and Clonard village, which stretches right back to the Clonard Road. While it had been previously rumoured that Killeens was the front-runner in terms of location for the schools, Chief Executive of WWETB Kevin Lewis was delighted to officially unveil their plans last week.
