Successful students from Selskar College, past and present, combined at The Riverbank House Hotel as the college hosted its PLC Graduation Ceremony there.
There was a wonderful atmosphere as graduates collected their certificates and celebrated with family and friends, marking the completion of quite a bit of hard work.
Managing Director at Kent Stainless Wexford and former student at Selskar College, Ms Ann O'Brien spoke of how the college provides a real pathway to success. As an employer and business manager, she noted the crucial role that the PLC QQI qualification programme makes to businesses and services here in Wexford and beyond. An internationally recognised qualification, it can be used both as a stepping stone to further your professional career or to progress to further education. Ms O'Brien spoke fondly of her time at the college and wished all of the students graduating every success in the future.
Outlining a path less travelled was Ms Geraldine Casey. A successful student in the Applied Social Studies PLC class of 2019, she outlined how she had graduated in commercial computing back in the 90s and after working in the industry for 16 years, never imagined a change in career path. However, she returned to full time third level education at Selskar College in 2018 as a mature student in order to re-train and re-prepare herself to re-enter the work force in a new career environment.
She outlined the abundance of opportunities that now exist and paid tribute to the excellent tutors at Selskar College for helping her to achieve her goal.
Finally, Mr John Connolly, Deputy Principal at Selskar College, complimented the teaching staff at the college and congratulated all students present on their hard work and wished them every success as they follow their chosen pathway in the future.
