Celebrations were in store at Wexford Playzone when they hosted their annual party for children from Chernobyl recently.
Twenty-five kids arrived for a day of fun, frolics and food which was organised by Wexford Friends of Chernobyl. According to Fiona Ryan from Wexford Playzone, the day was enjoyable for all involved.
'Everyone had a brilliant time playing together,' she said. 'We try to provide them with an environment that is safe, but still fun to be in.'
The children's host families also joined in on the festivities.
'There was a a lovely atmosphere here,' said Fiona. 'The fact that the host families also attended really added to the day.'
Wexford Friends of Chernobyl arrange for children to visit Wexford from Belarus each summer. The group was the first organisation to take children from the area where a nuclear accident occurred in 1986.
