Big demand for tickets for the Spiegeltent

TICKETS are selling like hot cakes for the Wexford Spiegeltent Festival taking place during Wexford Festival Opera.

'We've already sold more tickets this year than we had last year at the time we were building the tent,' said co-promoter Barry Ennis with another three weeks to go before the opening night on Wednesday, October 23.

A concert by Bell X1 has completely sold out and first night headliners Cry Before Dawn are on the way to a sell-out. Other performances in demand are the Alabama Three and the Celtic Tenors who are closing the tent festival on Sunday, November 3.

A Hallowe'en screening of the movie 'Phantom of the Opera' with a live music score on Wednesday, October 30 is also selling very well.

'What we're finding this year is that people are buying tickets for multiple shows,' said Barry.

'What people seem to like is the wide variety of national and international acts that we have managed to secure.'

Among the spiegeltent children's events will be day time performances on Saturday and Sunday, October 2 and 3 by Pangottic Circus from the UK, with 'Thingamabob', a weird and wonderful show featuring mime, theatre and slapstick.
