Noel McHugh and the team from The Cutthroat Club Barber Shop in Wexford town were the busiest barbers in the country at the RDS at Ireland's biggest Motorbike and Scooter Show, raising a hair-raising €1,700 for a mental health charity.
They were helped out by representatives from Empire Barbers Tallaght, Town Heads Barbers Arklow and Ridgeways Barbers Dublin over the three days, raising a hair-raising €1,700 for the charity GROW. All the barbers donated their time and expertise to support GROW - Ireland's largest community based mental health organisation that has been helping people on the road to mental health recovery and suicide prevention for almost 50 years.
Established in June 2014, the Cutthroat barbers club has always fundraised and been involved in numerous charities - donating time, talent and effort to worthwhile causes. The team spent three days cutting hair for free at the Motorbike and Scooter Show.
For a donation of €20 participants both the public, exhibitors and of course some of the most famous faces in the industry of motorbike racing could get a hair and beard trim and all monies donated went directly to the charity.
Noel said: 'The three days were a sell-out in the RDS with the barber shop run of its feet also. This resulted in almost €1,700 being raised and donated. The guys got to meet and cut hair with some well-known faces like Michael Dunlop (who opened the show), Michael Sweeney plus the world's fastest woman motorcycle racer) also popped by to show her support.'
