County Wexford restaurants had the recipe for success at the Leinster Final of the Irish Restaurant Awards, capturing top prizes and achieving the right to compete for Regional and All-Ireland titles at the national finals in Dublin in May.
La Cote Seafood Restaurant on the Quay in Wexford town had cause to crack open the champagne after winning the overall accolade of Best Restaurant in the county, sponsored by Tindal Wine Merchants, at the awards ceremony in the Killashee Hotel in Naas.
Edwina Hynes who runs the restaurant with her husband Paul also won the award for Best Restaurant Manager, sponsored by AIB Merchant Services.
Eugene O'Callaghan of La Marine Bistro in Kelly's Hotel was voted Best Chef in County Wexford (sponsored by Nisbets) while La Marine also won the award for Best Customer Service, sponsored by Lockton. The Best Newcomer restaurant award went to Sebz in Barntown.
The Duck Restaurant in Marlfield House won the title of Best Hotel and Guesthouse Restaurant, sponsored by BWG Food Service. The Best Gastro Pub award, sponsored by Elavon, was won by the Strand in Cahore.
The Wilds in Enniscorthy was voted Best Cafe (sponsored by Illy) and the Pub of the Year Award (sponsored by Jameson Caskmates) went to French's pub in Gorey.
The award for Best Wine Experience (sponsored by Gilbeys) was won by Greenacres of Selskar, Wexford and the award for Best World Cuisine went to The Forge Italian restaurant in Castlebridge.
The title of Best 'Free From' (sponsored by Peroni Gluten Free) went to The Cracked Teapot in Quay Street, New Ross and the award for Best Kids food was won by Whitford House Hotel. Fiona Falconer of Wild About was voted Best Local Food Hero, an award sponsored by Rewarding Times. Cistin Eile restaurant in South Main Street, Wexford captured the award for Best Irish Cuisine.
Best Casual Dining (sponsored by Just Eat) was won by Katie Daly's Bar and Restaurant, Gorey.
