A dozen left 'devastated'
A GROUP of 12 friends from Réalt na Mara Ballygarrett GAA Club were among the hundreds of thousands of Garth Brooks fans left reeling after the star pulled the plug on all five of his Croke Park Shows last Tuesday afternoon.
'We were going up on Sunday,' said Lorna Doyle. 'We had a bus organised to go from the club, and we're devastated. We couldn't believe it, after all the excitement.'
The GAA Club organised a Garth Brooks tribute night the previous weekend, and even offered their club grounds as a possible venue when it looked like two concerts wouldn't go ahead, but they had never dreamed that all five concerts would be cancelled. 'We've had to cancel the bus now,' she said. 'Loads of people at our concert were planning to go, and some of them were going on the Sunday evening and we had arranged to meet up. There was going to be a great atmosphere at it.'
