A class project by a group of Wexford students has led to a sizeable donation for one of the county's most worthy causes.
Organised by students from the Business Administration Course of the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) a quiz night held at the Crown Bar led to €850 being raised for Wexford's Able-Disabled Club.
Tanya Macken was one of the students who organised the event and she explained why those chose this particular charity: 'There's a girl in our class who's part of the Wexford Able-Disabled club so we just wanted to raise funds for them because of her.'
From there, the students set about organising a table quiz, each of them assigned a specific duty in advance of the event. And, despite having no previous experience in this field, the night was an unqualified success.
'There was 20 tables on the night, four people per table. It was brilliant, we didn't expect to raise that much,' confirmed Tanya.
Praising Mick Doyle for coming up with questions, which had all those in attendance scratching their heads, and all her classmates for their efforts in putting the event together, Tanya said the Able-Disabled Club were 'absolutely delighted' to receive the donation from the students.
