HURLERS ON FORM
Our Junior hurlers continued their strong start to the league with a good win over the Tara Rocks in Carne last Saturday evening. In another very entertaining game the Island went in at the break with a good lead and never looked back from there. In a very good team performance, the Island scored some excellent points from play and worked very hard in closing down their opponents when they had the ball. The Gorey side never gave up to their credit, making the Island work hard for their win. Final score 14 points to 4 not being a true reflection of the competiveness of the game.
Our Junior B team also had a fine win at home on Sunday evening against Cloughbawn to get their League campaign back on track. The team showed a significant improvement on their opening day performance with some good hurling being played all over the field. After an even enough opening 15 minutes the Island went in at the break ahead by 2. 6 to 1.3, thanks to a brace of goals. But they didn't sit back in the second half but pushed on adding to that lead with a couple of well taken goals from Nicky White and Damien Breslin. Some fine points from play over the final stages and good work in defence ensured that the Island held on to secure a comfortable win.
